Beta Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (BhCG)

Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone produced by the placenta and normally is only present during pregnancy.

Some abnormal tissues, tumors, and cancers may also produce hCG, making the hCG test useful as a tumor marker. This serum test measures the amount of hCG in the blood.
