Description
Chloride is an electrolyte that is present in all body fluids but is most concentrated in the blood and in the fluid outside the body’s cells.
This test is often ordered as part of a regular physical to screen for a variety of conditions. The blood chloride test is almost never ordered by itself. It is usually ordered as part of a panel or as part of a routine physical.
Electrolytes may be ordered at regular intervals when a person has a disease or condition or is taking a medication that can cause an electrolyte imbalance.
