Complete Blood Count (CBC)

Product Description

A complete blood count (CBC), is a test that evaluates the cells that circulate throughout the blood. It is also known as a hemogram.

Blood consists of three types of cells: white blood cells (WBCs), red blood cells (RBCs), and platelets (PLTs). These cells are suspended in fluid called plasma and are produced primarily in the bone marrow. Blood cells are released into the bloodstream as needed.

The CBC is a very common test, often performed as part of a routine health examination. A CBC may also be ordered when a person has signs and symptoms that may be related to disorders that affect blood cells. When a person has been diagnosed with a disease known to affect blood cells, a CBC will often be ordered on a regular basis to monitor their condition.
